I am taking part in a True Story Festival.  True Stories from real people who have been through the ups and downs of life are often more powerful than the dramatic events experienced by celebrities.

Especially this year where there is so much uncertainty it is particularly important to be clear about values and timeless principles.

Listening to the stories of others can inspire as well as bring hope and confidence.  A story can show the path through a problem and awaken a sense of possibility.

At the start of the year this was destined to be a Ted event held in Windsor in Britain.  As we are in a lockdown during the month of November this would have been impossible.  But the writing was on the wall for face to face gatherings even before this.  So the decision was taken by Melanie Gow, the storytelling impresario, to move to a dedicated Zoom event.

True Stories for A Difficult Time

This is the year that expectations were upended, that the world got to rethink, and everything we wanted was in the unknown.  In all this, the need for community, for compassion, for social change, and empathy became essential. In all this, a new story is emerging.

Our true stories have never been more important.

When you tell a True Story you are harnessing an ancient power that can transform emotions, shape values, and even see into the future.

Stories can help others to fully realise their potential, and bring through real change.

In my experience as someone who has lived through a lot of change and helped others to find their stories I know this has incredible power.
