I have just heard that I have been chosen as a World Book Night giver for 2013.  Great News.

World Book Night Choice

World Book Night Choice

World Book Night is a fantastic initiative to encourage a love of reading.  The aim is to get books to people who are not already readers by the brilliantly simple strategy of just giving them away.  (So simple you can hardly believe it!).  Special editions are printed by the publishers, contributions are looked for and sponsors found, and volunteers are selected to give away 20 books of their choice.

So I am hoping to encourage 20 people to read with “Casino Royale.”  It is fast-moving, and I think a great book for someone who is not a regular reader.

Have you read the books chosen for 2013?  To find out go to the  World Book Night website

Apparently one third of homes in the UK have no books at all, and of course books are getting rarer and rarer as screens become more popular.

I personally love the feel, the weight, and yes – the friendliness – of a book you can carry around with you.  Although I have a Kindle I definitely don’t want to give up a real proper book with actual paper between the covers.

How about you?
